Riots in Chakwal

ON Dec 14 I read in Dawn with great anguish the news of the anti-Ahmadi riots in Chakwal district. It was not a spontaneous riot and the trouble had been simmering for a long time. The Ahmadya community had even lodged a complaint with the administration, but it appears no preventive measures were taken.

There is a need for educating the people on this issue and inculcating in them the virtue of tolerance. Persecuting minorities is against the injunctions of Islam.
