Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday made it clear that his party has issues with the federal government over China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but not China.
He was addressing a political convention in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He reiterated his complaint that the north-western province is being deprived of its due share in the project.
The PTI chief alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif never keeps his words.
"He [Nawaz] promised at the All Parties Conference that a western route of the project would be made and KP would be the beneficiary of it but now we came to know that province is being deprived of its due share from the CPEC," he said.
Imran expressed his doubts over what he took as concealing facts. Addressing the prime minister he said, "You signed the Memorandum of Understanding with China in 2013 where as till 2016, no body is aware of the contents of that accord."
He alleged that PM Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz used to visit China and the chief ministers of the rest of three provinces were unaware of the developments.
Imran urged the "three small provinces" to demand of the federal government to disclose the agreements on CPEC. Sindh, Balochistan and KP should be provided their due share in CPEC as injustice produces unrest, he added.
Further clarifying his stance on China and CPEC, he said that he congratulates the entire nation on CPEC and hoped that the project will uplift the country and brighten the future of next generations.
He was of the view that the project would bring prosperity to the country and entire Pakistan would enjoy the fruits and benefits of CPEC.
He said that China has always been a friend of Pakistan and the friendship between the two countries is time tested.

@Khalid as if your institutions were thriving with maximum efficiency and autonomy. everything in pakistan from Supreme court to Patwaar Khana is miserable conditions. Nawaz is not interested in strong institutions.

Tarbela Extension and Dasu power project are two major power projects which will produce about 7000 MW. KKH upgradation, Hazara motorway, Hakla–DI Khan Motorway, dualisation of DI Khan- Quetta road are some of the major projects happening in KPK. IK and PTI should check facts before talking about such important projects.

Tariq Gee....Khuda dakhouf kar yar, IK is doing the best. IK is not in govt and can not offer any ministery. IK is real opposition and uncompromised leader. Support him once, if he stays on the same roof where PPP and PMLN standing nation will pull him down.

Imran Khan's demand that the MOU on CPEC be made available to other provinces is correct and is unquestionable. The next point is to see how other provinces can benefit from CPEC or alternatively, how the benefits will be shared with others.
Try to find a reason in his questions, don't ignore him, and just don't write him off.

His only aim to create CPEC controversial and create misunderstanding among provinces. His umpire gave him target to sabotage CPEC project. If he had some issues then should take it up in parliament where he does not want to go but claims all benefits and perks.

The questions raised by IK are very important and PM nawaj should come clean and address the doubt's of Pakistanis residing in the three provinces other than Punjab. It will make all the Pakistanis welcome the project otherwise the project will be unwellcomed by those who will feel cheated. Also why Mr nawaj his family should have a monopoly on this project of national interest.

@thoughts SIndh is the largest beneficiary, Balochistan the second largest beneficiary, Punjab the third largest beneficiary and KPK the smallest beneficiary. Do you know why? It is because Imran Khan refused to negotiate with the centre before CPEC was formalised, the NS Admin went to all provinces and IK refused to accept that CPEC would happen.

Just sick and tired of this corruption and self serving politicians. I have never been to the eastern part of Pakistan but I hope the whole of CPEC fall under those area. It is time they got developed. That area is as much Pakistan as any other area. Pakistan will win no matter what.

You should have maintained a working relation with govt mr khan, why should they be working for you when you are consistently trying to topple them! Also the hard work on cpec is being done by central and punjab govts, what input has kpk govt given to cpec exept trying to make it controversial like kalabagh dam.

@AsR - Which Tarbela and which extension? The one from where electricity is reaching as far as Faisalabad but not to my town which is 14 km west of it? And how are Hakla–DI Khan Motorway and dualisation of DI Khan- Quetta road going to benefit KPK when DI Khan is on the southern tip of KPK? YOU'd better check your geography rather than asking for facts to be checked.

KPK and Baluchistan are two major beneficiaries of CPEC. Mr Khan is using his ignorance and malicious mind to create hatred in our society and among provinces. Everyone including IK has the right to speak up his observations and findings. Unfortunately majority of us believe that the politics should be restricted to powerful and influential and common citizens don't have the right to participate in politics. Moreover our present and past rulers have made it a dirty game and gentleman feared entering into it. We cannot afford any more to rely on the status quo type regimes. This is high time that common citizen shall come-forward and take the lead. Blaming the rulers will not going to help any more.

CPEC is not sweets which are to be distributed. It is Chinese funded project and will be implemented as planned by the Chinese government. Politicians must stop misleading public for personal gains.
