PESHAWAR: Senior actor Iftikhar Qaiser fell ill owing to multiple health complications here on Monday, family sources told Dawn.
He was briefly admitted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) after his health condition deteriorated early in the morning. Iftikhar Hussain alias Iftikhar Qaiser had launched his acting career in his early teens from a play of PTV, Peshawar centre. He is a versatile performer and has large number of fans. He has performed in hundreds of Hindko, Pashto and Urdu plays.
Mr Qaiser is recipient of numerous awards including President’s Pride of Performance for his immense contribution to performing art. His acting career on radio, stage and TV is spread over 45 years. He has earned widespread popularity for his versatility and complete mastery over art of performance. “I have been suffering from diabetes and stomach disorder for the last several years but my condition got worsened since November this year. Today, doctors conducted my complete medical checkup and advised me home rest for the time being.
I appeal to my well-wishers and fans to pray for my early recovery and good health,” said Mr Qaiser.
He said that financial condition of most artists in the province was not satisfactory and the authorities concerned should take notice of it.
