KOHAT: PML-N leader and adviser to the prime minister Amir Muqam on Monday inaugurated a gas supply project in Akbarabad area here.

It is to mention here that former senator and state minister Abbas Afridi had invited the PM’s adviser to inaugurate the project despite a ban reportedly imposed by the divisional commissioner on inauguration of such projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Muqam announced that the PML-N would inaugurate a gas supply scheme every month in Kohat.

Mr Muqaam said that majority of the projects announced by the prime minister during his last visit of Kohat would be completed by 2018. He said the PML-N would give a crushing defeat to PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next general elections.

He said the commissioner, Kohat division, had put ban on inauguration of any gas project in the district at the behest of the chief minister, but they would not tolerate any hurdle in the way of development.

On the occasion, Abbas Afridi said that after vacation of petition against inauguration of gas supply schemes by the Peshawar High Court the PTI MPs were adopting unfair means to deprive the masses of the facility.

The PML-N leader said that the PTI lawmakers had forced the commissioner, Kohat division, to ask the general manager of SNGPL to halt work on all projects being announced by him. Showing the copy of the letter, he further stated that the commissioner had written to the general manager that if the projects were not stopped he reserved the right to lodge an FIR against him.

Abbas Afridi said that the work on development schemes announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for Kohat was not being digested by the PTI lawmakers.

He vowed that despite the hurdles being created by the PTI MPs he would continue to serve the masses and would not stop from sanctioning and inaugurating gas supply schemes.

The former senator said that work on Kohat-Pindighep Motorway was in progress and would be completed soon, which would connect the district to the CPEC route. He pointed out that after a meeting between Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and federal government a strategy had been devised to link the CPEC route with southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through a network of motorways.

MUSICAL NIGHT: Famous Pashto singers and musicians enthralled the audience at the annual musical night at the Kohat University of Science and Technology here on Sunday.

The function is patronised by PTI MPA Amjid Afridi and former PML-N senator Abbas Afridi every year for get-together of new and old students of KUST. Tehsil nazim Malik Taimoor and nazim Mehtabul Hassan also participated in the function.

On the occasion, Amjid Afridi also announced an excursion trip for the students.

The students danced to the tunes sung of famous singer Bakhtiar Khattak. A large number of students from other districts had also come to enjoy the programme despite severe cold.

Both Amjid Afridi and Abbas Afridi presented shields to the organising committee of the Kohat Students Federation.
