KARACHI: Pakistan women’s cricket team head coach and national junior chief selector Basit Ali has decided to resign from both his posts, assigned to him by PCB, stating that he did not get the right reward for his achievements in domestic cricket.

He has been under heavy criticism after the case of allegedly slapping former ODI player Mahmood Hamid.

Basit helped SNGPL become a powerhouse in Pakistan’s domestic cricket as he helped them to four consecutive titles in first-class cricket while he won two domestic one-day tournaments as well with them.

He recently served as Head Coach of Pakistan A on their tour of England and was later posted as Head Coach with national women team.

“I feel very down today as I feel all the effort I did for last several years in Pakistan’s domestic cricket has fetched me nothing but questions on my integrity,” Basit said while speaking to Dawn.

“SNGPL struggled without me and now that I’m back, we’ve reached semifinal of departmental one-day tournament but people will not realise my contribution so it’s a futile effort.”

On Friday, during the press confrence at NSK, the PCB chief Shaharyar M Khan was asked how PCB is looking at the matter of Basit allegedly slapping Hamid and Shaharyar replied that physical violence is unacceptable but Basit has denied slapping Hamid so he will call both parties and listen to their versions.
