CHARSADDA: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq has said that the New Year will be crucial for the Supreme Court and the newly-appointed chief justice keeping in view the Panana Leaks case.
Talking to media persons here on Saturday, he said that if the judiciary disappointed people on Panama case, then masses would come to the streets and would hold their own courts.
The JI chief said that despite the lapse of eight months the Panama Leaks scandal remained unresolved. Therefore, the New Year would be crucial for the judiciary as well as the new chief justice, he added.
He suggested that Supreme Court should appoint chairman of the National Accountability Bureau instead of prime minister and the opposition leader.
When asked about extension in military courts tenure, the JI chief said that personally he was not in favour of any extension.
He termed the violation of Indus Water Treaty by India a declaration of war against Pakistan.
