Exports to America create jobs and hard currency - imports from China cost jobs and reduce hard currency. Never have figured out why Pakistanis haven't figured that out.

@Najee I guess the imports from UAE are basically from third countries,to avoid trade barriers/restrictions
Ex: many imports from India are routed through UAE

China sells $ 11.02 B of goods while buying a meager $ 1.93 B of Goods (possible at lowest profit margins to Pakistan). In the trade deficit it earns approx $ 9 Billions annually. CPEC investment "loans" are for $ 54 Billion. (ref. Wikipedia). So what China had already earned from Pakistan in the last 6 years, it is re-investing in Pakistan to earn much bigger returns. Warren Buffet say "Giving money to buy - aka loans - is billion times better business than selling items". China is doing both. I really revere the Chinese Mind.

Most of uae import is actually India. I have seen first hand containers leaving Mumbai routed via Dubai to go to Karachi .The products made in India range a wide spectrum from pharmaceutical, automobile parts to consumer discretionary items.Allowing India a MFN would cut Pakistani imports by half but there is too much money to be made for certain individuals in the transit trade in the name of national security.

The difference between the export and the import is remarkable! Why does not Pakistan export such things which will earn more foreign currency than the imported values? this ratio is disappointing. Has the commerce ministry every thought about this. rice, textiles etc are natural things. why is not machinery, technical things, scientific material, medicines, weapons, computers, hardware exported?
