GUJRAT: The Jhelum police have got six-day physical remand of two main suspects in the murder case of a German national of Pakistani origin, Uzma Khan, including her husband and his friend on Sunday.

Uzma, 40, was shot dead allegedly by her husband, Shahbaz Khan, during a lunch hosted by his friend Naveed Malik, owner of a private law college, on Dec 27.

The police produced both the suspects, Shahbaz and Naveed, before the magistrate and sought their physical remand.

Both had been taken into custody by the Jhelum Civil Lines police in connection with the murder of Uzma.

The slain woman had contracted a marriage with Shahbaz around 16 years ago and both had been living in Germany along with their two children, a 13-year-old son and daughter.

They had returned to Pakistan on Dec 19 and Uzma was staying with her parents in Kharian when she was invited to the reception.

Qamraun Nissa, the sister of the deceased who is also a complainant in the case, had alleged that Uzma had not been on good terms with Shahbaz due to some domestic differences and both would often quarrel. It was Uzma’s second marriage after being divorced from her first husband who was doctor. She was as a nurse. Shahbaz is said to be a lawyer.
