FAISALABAD: Three Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) officials -- an executive engineer (EXEN), a sub-divisional officer (SDO) and a line superintendent (LS) -- were suspended from service for their alleged negligence, resulting in the death of an employee.

The suspension orders of the three officials were issued by Fesco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rasheed Aslam in the light of findings of a probe initiated following death of an assistant lineman, Sajid, who died on Tuesday when a pole fell on him during its removal.

The probe found that the three officials -- Nazimabad EXEN Mohammad Anwer, Samanabad SDO Hammad Ghaffar and LS (second) Kashif -- did not ensure suspension of power supply before removal of pole, resulting in AL’s death.

ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a man booked on charges of misappropriating over Rs5 million of the Canteen Supply Department (CSD).

FIA Faisalabad Deputy Director Ali Imam Zaidi said a case had been registered against loader Fiaz Hussain of Moorani Shamali Darya Khan on Aug 11 under sections 109, 409, 420, 468, 471 of PPC and 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).

During investigation, he said the suspects had returned Rs1.9 million of the misappropriated amount. Ijaz Husain was still at large, Zaidi added.
