A long winter’s sleep

This is regarding the cover article “A long winter sleep” by Talat Naz, (YW, December 24, 2016). The article was full of information that I knew little about.

I love Young World and every week I eagerly wait for Saturday to read the magazine. It is always informative and I hope the YW team will go on publishing more such interesting topics.

A new beginning

This is with reference to the story “A new beginning” by Qurat-ul-Ain Aamir (YW, December 31, 2016). The writer advised everyone to start the new year with commitment for a positive change.

I agree with the writer that we should start a new year of life with new thoughts, enthusiasm and excitement. We should never hurt anyone and try to give happiness to everyone.

May this year bring lots of happiness in our lives!

Unequal representation in PSL

This is regarding the cover article, “Welcome 2017” by Omair Alavi (YW, December 31, 2016).

The article was full of interesting information. The writer talked about Pakistan Super League and its second session in Lahore, I want to highlight some of my own observations about PSL. Undoubtedly, PSL showcases the new talent of Pakistan by giving a platform to our national level players to play with international players. But I feel very sad that I don’t find many Baloch or Sindhi players in the PSL.

Quetta Gladiators is the team from Balochistan and sadly, not a single Baloch player, except Bismillah Khan (a supplementary wicketkeeper) is in it.

The same is the situation of Karachi Kings, where one cannot find a single Sindhi player. In fact, the two vast provinces’ locals make up more than a fourth of the whole population of the country. What is PSL doing to bring the people of Pakistan on one platform?

It is my humble request to the chairman of PCB to please include Baloch and Sindhi players in the PSL and the national team so that they also become a part of a rising Pakistan.

A bad day

This is the reference of the cover story “A bad day” by Syeda Armeen Nasim (YW, December 24). The story was interesting.

In the story, the girl had to face many problems but the day ended on a happy note. The story showed us how to face all problems with a smile as nothing remains the same and even bad times end.
