LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is ‘linking the missing dots’ in the Panama case to assist the Supreme Court despite the fact that the case is inquisitorial in nature.
The SC bench is hearing the case with utmost seriousness on a daily basis and has now decided to allot more time to decide the case of “national importance.”
This was stated by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi while speaking to media in between chairing a joint meeting of senior advisory board and executive council at party’s Lahore urban office on Thursday.
Without disturbing the hearing, he said the party would organise “public courts” to educate masses about the Panama case and its outcomes during off days.
He said he would himself address a public meeting in Rajanpur on Jan 7, and chairman in Bahawalpur on Jan 8.
Mr Khan will also address a mass public meeting in D.G. Khan on Jan 15. Later, the party will go to Sargodha for public meeting. Responding to Sheikh Rashid’s demand that the government should constitute a caretaker set-up, Mr Qureshi said it was his point of view. “The PTI is not drawing any conclusions but fighting the case in the court,” he said.
Answering a question, Mr Qureshi said the party had yet not decided to constitute a parliamentary board and in the same breath added that the time was ripe that the board should be constituted.
Lauding former PTI Punjab organsier Chaudhry Sarwar on his return from abroad to rejoin party politics, Mr Qureshi expressed the hope that he would effectively contribute to the party.
Asked if Chaudhry Sarwar would be made Punjab parliamentary board head, Mr Qureshi said, “Chaudhry Sarwar is able to contribute to the party – in any capacity entrusted to him.”
He lauded Lahore urban president Waleed Iqbal and his associates for transforming the party into a movement and hoped that the structural changes being introduced by him would strengthen PTI in Lahore.
