KARACHI: The national hockey camp, in preparation for the upcoming international assignments, begins at the Abdul Sattar Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has invited 75 probables for the camp. The probables have been asked to report at the stadium by Thursday evening and the regular training will commence the following morning.

The probables will be shortlisted on Jan 22, manager-cum-camp camp commandant former Olympian Hanif Khan told Dawn.

Hanif said he will be assisted by two coaches -- K. M. Junaid and Ahmed Alam (goal-keeping coach) – in the camp. It may be mentioned that the PHF had appointed Hanif and Junaid in Feb last year.

According to him, the national team is likely to feature in two four-nation tournaments being held at Australia and New Zealand, 26th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at Malaysia and the World Cup qualifiers.
