Pakistan beat Australia by 6 wickets in the second One Day International at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
This is Pakistan's first ODI win on Australian soil in 12 years. Both teams have won one match each in this series.
Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik were the big scorers for Pakistan today, with 72 and 42 runs apiece as the team chased down Australia's 220 all out in 48.2 overs. Hafeez was awarded Man of the Match.
Speaking to the media at the event, Hafeez said, "We wanted to get that total on the board... We kept the pressure on. First with the ball, then at that stage [batting], we wanted to hit the ball for 3-4 overs."
"This is the way to move forward. We take one game at a time, we were more focused with this. Hopefully... We will do the job for Pakistan [in the next game]."
Hafeez said the team had enjoyed the support from the crowd and thanked them.
The men in green tied Australia down with spin ─ changes in pace, cutters, pace off, change ups, all restricted Australia, according to ESPN Cricinfo.
Mohammad Amir shined with three wickets to his name while Junaid Khan and Imad Wasim bagged two wickets each. Shoaib Malik and Hassan Ali have one each to their names.
Amir sent Mitchell Marsh (0), James Faulkner (19) and Pat Cummins (0) back to the pavilion in his 9.2 over spell.
Junaid Khan dismissed David Warner (16) and Usman Khawaja (17). He also performed a run-out sending Mitchell Starc home for three runs.
Steven Smith (60) and Glenn Maxwell (23) were both bowled out by Imad.
Malik showed Matthew Wade the way to the pavilion at 35 runs.
Travis Head was caught by Rizwan on Hassan's ball, he went back to the pavilion with 29 runs to his name.
Australian captain Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bat in the second of five one-day internationals against Pakistan in Melbourne on Sunday.
Pakistan are missing captain Azhar Ali, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first ODI in Brisbane on Friday.
He has been replaced by Asad Shafiq. Mohammad Hafeez is captaining the team in Azhar's absence.
In other changes, Shoaib Malik and Junaid Khan have joined the squad to substitute Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Nawaz.
Australia have made two changes to the side that beat Pakistan on Friday.
Chris Lynn is out with a neck injury and has been replaced by Usman Khawaja and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood comes in for Billy Stanlake.
Australia lead the series 1-1.

On the face of it Australia may not score as much as they scored in the 1st match because now they are at 78/3 and scoring @5.2 per over which a bit below their standard and our bowlers must contain them still the more otherwise they will accelerate and we will be in deep trouble then. The couple on the crease could be the last hope for the hosts and Wade the wicket keeper is next to come followed by their last 4 bowlers so it is very important that we should not let them play so freely otherwise they will pile runs and runs ad then we cannot match them. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi / Kuwait

Watch the playing couple. We must not forget that Smith now playing is not only batsman but their captain and will prove to be real captain by scoring maximum runs. Maxwell is the one who is not that lucky to be hones as he has been picked up and ignored and therefore he will prove to be areal asset fir the team so that he gets a permanent place and not otherwise. There is some hope that we may win the match if not then we will not be defeated as bad as in the 1st match. Hafeez, the standing captain failed in bowling and should his worth as batsman like Smith did today and if not the being a failure both with ball and bat he should be shipped (not airlifted) back to Pakistan. 221 is the target which is not that difficult in any case and now it all depends upon Hafeez who will be one of the two openers to lay sound foundation for the team to win the match. I wish we do not lose this opportune unless we are happy with defeats and angry on winning. My team players must think of their compatriots and they must wipe of our tears and bring back smile on our faces. What crime, if any,, did I commit, or fir that matter others have committed that since long we are facing defeat and humiliation at the hands of none but our own brothers? Grt performance by Pak bowlers and Steve Smith as always.
Junaid grt bowling ..and why wasn't he part of the test team ..much better than the pathetic Imran/Sohail/Wahab.
Amir bowling better thanks to Junaid on the other end.
Imad Wasim ..the most dominating bowler ..regardless of the number of wickets .
Australians were clueless against him more so than any other bowler.
How come the PCB selected Yasir Shah over him for the tests ..he has some qualities of the grt Ashwin of India.
Indian fans your thoughts pls ..and how do guys in India keep your board in check so that meritocracy prevails in selection process unlike the PCB ?
The total could have been much lower if not for some bad wicket keeping which for some reason the cricket commentators conveniently ignored (byes ..quite few of them)
Now time for the batters to take the baton and run with it!

Figures speak not me. Hafeez has played 179 matches and scored 140 as maximum whereas Sherjeel has played only 22 matches and 152 was his highest score. Now at the end of 4the Shejeel is playing @84.61 and his boss Hafeez@27.27. Hats off for Sherjeel. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi

Muhammad Hafiz has led the team very well with passion, aggressive bowling changes and good team selection .
The entire body language of Pakistani team looked different today as Hafiz led this team with attacking mindset which was missing in Azhar Ali.
Let's hope Pakistan wins this match and the era of Azhar Ali defensive leadership is over for good!!!

Match lacks thrill to be honest. Australians were not that belligerent what we expected of them and now though Pakistan has scored 82/1 which is not that bad but fire is not ignited as yet. We must score in a manner that all those sitting in the stadium are fully charged for the money they paid otherwise they could save ticket money and yet watch the match from house like me. Well, technically they won a few games at the World Cup in 2015 in Aus. This is what they could have done in the first game. They had Australia on the ropes at 80 odd for 5 but let them get away with it by giving a spell to Amir far too late. They planned well today. And Amir and Junaid opened the bowling very well.

@Love Your Country The most positive thing on the field was the captain of Pakistan. Hafeez is a class act and fighter. Azhar needs to either learn from Hafeez or stay with test cricket. I also think Rizwan is a better keeper than Sarfraz, although Sarfraz is a better batsman. Junaid, Hasan and Amir fought with their bowling. Wahab Riaz is fading. Maybe it is better to send Umar Akmal and Sharjeel to open and let them play their game

while it is good for Pakistan team to win this ODI, but let's not forget that our batting line is still pretty feeble and we have to bring aggressive batsman who can bat aggressively. Asad Shafiq needs to go to back to the basics as he is not able to perform besides one good knock in Test. From here, Australia going to come back hard at us and we better be ready for them. We should have 2 up but because of feeble batting we lost our first game and not able to chase just 280 in the first ODI, it tells us we have continued batting problem that Mickey Arthur better find some solution.

After having watched Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali, and Imran Khan bowl in Aus, just surprised how one could select anyone except Amir ahead of Junaid. Its always about selection of wrong team that makes Pakistan weaker.

Well Done Pakistan but we should not start thinking that this is the best combination. One victory doesn't change the fact that we are still an ordinary side and playing against a very ordinary Aussie team who were himiliated at home 5-0 by Proteas two months ago. We were lucky today as the spinners got some assistance from the pitch. A green pitch will take yhem out of the game which i expect in the next game. Batting will always be the key to winning any match whether one-day or test.

Junaid grt bowling ..and why wasn't he part of the test team ..much better than the pathetic Imran/Sohail/Wahab.
Amir bowling better thanks to Junaid on the other end.
Imad Wasim ..the most dominating bowler ..regardless of the number of wickets . Australians were clueless against him more so than any other bowler. How come the PCB selected Yasir Shah over him for the tests ..he has some qualities of the grt Ashwin of India.
Indian fans your thoughts pls ..and how do guys in India keep your board in check so that meritocracy prevails in selection process unlike the PCB ? The total could have been much lower if not for some bad wicket keeping which for some reason the cricket commentators conveniently ignored (byes ..quite few of them)

Congrats to Pakistan on a dominant win against the no.1 ranked Ozzies in Australia. India too amazingly won chasing an English 350 and from a bad position of 60-4 (Dhoni, Yuvi and openers gone) to demoralize a powerful English ODI team by making 356-7 in 48 overs. Good batting pitch, yes, but English are no slouches in ODIs.

What a fantastic way to make comeback into International Cricket. This is going to be a very important turning point for the future of Pakistan Cricket. Mohammad Hafeez led
his team from the front, took full responsibility and his body language showed
that he was not going for anything less than a victory. He did his job well both as a captain and batsman. Infact it was Shoeb Malik who not only blocked the possible classical Pakistan would be collapse but ensured his team to victory by his aggressive batting. Congratulations Green Shirts. After beating Australia right in front of their own crowd our team morale has very much boosted which is quite but natural but at the time we should slack and instead must concentrate and work out some strategy as to which players are to play in the next match keeping in mind that we should not field incompetent player so that we win the next game as well. However, do not forget that being so defeated Australians will pick up the best of the lot which as such necessitates that we must be very judicious in picking up next eleven to face the hosts in 3rd match. It was a win by fluke, see the next matches how Australia thrashes Pakistan.
when you dont have strong opening bats man and strong batting line up. You are bound to face such humiliations. Unfortunately Pakistan cricket has not learnt the lesson since 2007's exit from the world cup.

Malik is good batsman fr middle order,he can hit the boundeies but pak team really needs some big hitter like sharjeel khan in the middle order ,a player who clear the ground this will strengthen the side,BTW pak has bowled well in odi's

Very well played by Pakistan but the thing here is that they were given 221 to chase. Had the target been over 250 then obviously they would have been in trouble. Warner is due for a big score and we must be ready for that and we should bat positively to score a big total or chase like India did against England

One win does not mean that team is great. Besides, Hafeez was lucky to get a chance when Smith dropped a very easy catch. If you analyse the match without prejudice, Pakistan played very slow again. There were way too many dot balls, there was no emphasis on taking singles at all. Since the score was low, win was possible. Had the target was around 275, they could not have scored. In any ODI, dot balls should not be more than 20%. Hopefully team will play better and keep winning.
