KOHAT: The KDA teaching hospital here will soon get the CT scan and MRI machines and trauma centre which were the longstanding demands of the people of Kohat.

Work on the trauma centre has been completed with a cost of Rs25 million.

MPA Ziaullah Bangash, who has been recently appointed as the focal person for development projects in the district, told this scribe on Sunday that the facilities required about Rs220 million, but as a government policy the provision of CT Scan and MRI needed a public-private partnership.

He said that the posts for the trauma centre had been advertised and it would start functioning in the newly-constructed building in the teaching hospital within two months. It will rid the people of Kohat division from going to Peshawar in serious cases and help in saving precious lives.

Mr Bangash said that the reconstruction of the women and children hospital was in final stages and an NGO had also promised to contribute some funds in this regard. Negotiations are also going on with the oil and gas exploration companies to get funds from them required for the Rs500 million project.

Also, the doctors have complained that the phone exchange of the hospital is out of order since long and it needs urgent replacement.

Presently, the doctors in wards and emergency could not be contacted.
