ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been ranked 52nd, ahead from India (60th), among 79 developing economies in the Inclusive Development Index (IDI), according to a World Economic Forum (WEF) report.
The ‘Inclusive Growth and Development Report 2017’, released in Davos on Monday, said that most countries were missing important opportunities to raise economic growth and reduce inequality at the same time because the growth model and measurement tools that have guided policy-makers for decades required significant readjustment.
India has been ranked 60th, below neighbouring China and Pakistan, according to the WEF report, carried by The Asian Age, an Indian newspaper.
Various Indian newspapers including The Hindu, Indian Express, Deccan Herald, Punjab Times and others carried the report, highlighting that India ranked below China and Pakistan in the IDI.
The index is based on 12 performance indicators. In order to provide a more complete measure of economic development than GDP growth alone, the index has three pillars — growth and development, inclusion and intergenerational equity, and sustainability. Lithuania tops the list of 79 developing economies that also features Azerbaijan and Hungary at second and third positions, respectively.
China is ranked 15th, Nepal 27th, Bangladesh 36th and Pakistan 52nd. Two BRIC nations, Russia and Brazil, are at 13th and 30th places, respectively.
Others in the top-10 are: Poland 4th, Romania 5th, Uruguay 6th, Latvia 7th, Panama 8th, Costa Rica 9th and Chile 10th.

Pakistan should continue to work hard and aim to continue improve its index markers. We are not in a competition with any country but ourselves. We should aim fir fir the sky and compete with the countries in the top 5 spots who can act as good role models and examples to follow. Keep up the good work Pakistan!

This means we are voting for Nawaz again !! Woohooo, another 4 years of misery, corruption, and loans.
Now on a serious note I really hope that we are able to pay back these loans and retain a healthy chunk of revenues to be invested in Pakistan economy because these policies would hamper Pakistan well being in the long run. Tax collection gap has widened by rs 12 billion plus in 2016 which goes on to show that corruption, and greed continues to grow across all levels.

Wish my neighbour all the best of lucks towards growth and development. I think development and love between citizens towards each other is the only way forward because our governments are not that keen to ensure that between each other. Pakistan is comparatively smaller in geographic size, hence any effort to bring in positive development will not take much pains to yield result. Good luck again.

Smaller and limited economies seem to be topping this list. China is considerable but countries like Nepal and Bangladesh, whose economies are totally dependent on India are also ranked above India. That said, even Uruguay and Panama are in the top-10 of this index, Russia, with it's doomed economy is also ranked above India.

We barely export anything to India while India earn more than 15 billion dollar from us by exporting EVERY YEAR.
