LAHORE: Eight pre-quarterfinals were decided in the boys U-18 event on the opening day of the third Alam Al-Khayal Junior National Tennis Championships at the Bagh-i-Jinnah here on Tuesday.

All main players won their respective matches and qualified for the quarter-finals with Aman Atiq Khan, Haris Irfan-ul-Haq, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and others completing victories in one-sided affairs.

Haris toppled Aqib Umer 6-3, 6-7, 6-1, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman outclassed Hamza bin Rehan 6-1, 6-2, Mohammad Shoaib drafted victory against Asadullah 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the only three setters while Saqib Umer moved on after beating Mustafa Ali 6-1, 6-0.

On the other hand, Yousuf Khan outplayed Syed Hashim Ali Gilani 6-1, 6-2 while Hafiz Arbab Ali faced little opposition to beat Fahad Ahmed 6-1, 6-0.

Aman Atiq Khan inflicted defeat over Hasan Ali in style 6-0, 6-0 with Ahmed Asjad beating Mohammad Said 7-5, 6-0.
