KARACHI: The two-day trials to shortlist the probables currently undergoing training in the camp, commenced at the Abdul Sattar Edhi hockey stadium on Sunday.

Various combinations were tried during three sessions of the trials, spanning one hour each, in which some 60 players participated.

Two members of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) selection committee — Waseem Feroz and Farhat Khan — watched the trials. The PHF secretary Shahbaz Ahmed was also present.

“Chief selector Abdul Rasheed Jr is not well while Qasim Khan could not come due to some official engagement,” Waseem Feroz told Dawn. “After shortlisting the probables, the two selectors will forward the list to Rasheed and Qasim to get their nod,” he added.

The trials will start at 2pm on Monday.
