SWABI, Dec 26: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani said on Friday the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal achieved its objective of supremacy of parliament by entering into a deal with the government over the LFO.
Speaking at a public meeting, he said struggle for the restoration of real democracy continued without any interruption during the last one year and finally the objective of supremacy of parliament had been achieved because of efforts of the MMA leadership.
He said all possible steps would be taken for the protection of growers’ rights, like their counterparts in Punjab. He said Swabi-Jehangira road and Adina-Lahore road would be made dual carriageway and announced a Rs2.7 million grant for the construction of a judicial lock-up.
The chief minister said Sui gas would be provided to every part of the district, Kernel Sher College would be constructed and a number of other steps would be taken for the welfare of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Maulana Khalil Ahmad demanded that Sui gas should be provided to the district. He also asked the government to provide incentives to the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate and construct Swabi-Jehangira road and Swabi-Topi road.
He also demanded construction of a judicial complex, a police line, model school for labourers’ children, Swabi bypass road, Yar Hussain road and a press club in the district. He said funds should be provided for the under-construction Shah Mansoor hospital and measures should be taken for the protection of tobacco growers.
The chief minister also laid the foundation stone of the government degree college for boys Yar Hussain and said the college would provide an opportunity to the local people to get education.
