LAHORE: Lahore Lions and Quetta Panthers won their respective matches in contrasting style on the second day of the first Women’s Hockey League at the National Hockey Stadium here on Saturday.

While Lahore outplayed Peshawar Deers 3-0, Quetta edged out Islamabad Shaheen 3-2.

In the first match, two-goal Hamra Latif helped Lahore earn an easy 3-0 win against Peshawar Deers.

After Ambreen Arshad scored the first goal in the 19th minute, Hamra struck in the 28th and 30th minutes to dislodge the Deers in the one-sided match.

Two-goal Nafeesa Anwar also played a vital role for Quetta to beat Islamabad Shaheen after leading the match 2-1 at the half time.

Nafeesa banged home in the 13th minute to give 1-0 lead. But Sadaf Rafi restored the parity 1-1 for the losing side, finding the net in the 19th minute. But Nafeesa again put her team 2-1 ahead with her second goal in the 22nd minute.

Aqsa Javed increased the lead to 3-1 in the 46th minute, before Iqra Hanif reduced the margin of the lead in the 58th minute but she could not save her team from the defeat.
