From a delayed start to a flurry of fours to finish, the Pakistan Super League 2017 is well and truly under way.

Box office blockbuster

Two days ago, the tickets were sold out for the opening ceremony and the first game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017. The restaurants, cafes and stores selling tickets were all out as well. People were quoting twice the price online. However, there was a line at the box office and the window was open on match day.

Soon the extravaganza was well and truly sold out. Though some seats still remained empty through the game. Perhaps, some of those with free sponsored tickets were a no show.

Pakistan Super Song League

T20 leagues are about singing stars and dancing girls. It is about raining sixes and flooding fours. Here is when Ali Zafar was joined by Alan Wilkins to sing along.

First ball, first show!

7-foot-1-inch Mohammad Irfan was bowling to the former T20 captain of Pakistan, Mohammad Hafeez. The ball was in the fifth stump channel, moving further away. Hafeez poked at it, helping it into the hands of second slip. It was a super start to the second edition of the PSL.

It was all Dale Steyn’s fault.

Was that a six?

On a night when fielding standards were well below average, Haris Sohail seemed to have done a brilliant job stopping a six. However, multiple replays were inconclusive and it was given as a maximum. Gone are the days when the fielder was given the benefit of doubt.

The first game lived up to its billing

T20 games are known to go down to the wire. Even though Islamabad United seemed to be in control of the chase and had 7 wickets in hand, the game was won with only two balls to spare as Billings smacked one to the fence.

It was a great end to the game, and a brilliant start for this year's competition.
