SWABI, Dec 28: Politicians and the office-bearers of the local government have termed the recent visit of the chief minister to the district a futile exercise.

They said that Chief Minister Akram Durrani had inaugurated the schemes which were earlier announced by the NWFP governor.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, MPA Mukhtiar Khan said that the chief minister had laid the foundation stone of Yar Hussain boys degree college, which was sanctioned by the NWFP governor.

MPA Amir Rehman said the chief minister’s visit was an utter failure, as he did nothing for the area. He said that they received him because he was a guest here.

There seemed a wide rift between the two main components of the six parties alliance, as the Jamaat-i-Islami and the JUI-F leaders were trying to materialize their own political programmes, he alleged.

The chief minister, he said, had inaugurated the Gadoon estate road which was constructed and funded on the directives of the former local government minister.

Naib Nazim Mohammad Jamil said the construction of Chota Lahore hospital had been funded by the Women Health Project in collaboration with the district government and similar projects were also launched in Bada Gadoon, Topi, and Murghuz.

He said the chief minister announced upgradation of the tehsil hospital, but did not announced any fund.

He said according to information the chief minister had issued 200 directives for development works in the current financial year in which 150 were for the southern districts and the remaining for the whole of the NWFP.

The fund for the district judicial lock-up, he said, had already been received by the district government.

He said the Japanese government had allocated Rs10 million to archeological site on Hund road, which was also inaugurated by the chief minister.
