Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said if the Rangers can conduct an operation in Karachi, "then why can not the same be done in Punjab".
Imran was speaking to the media in Lahore following the suicide blast which took place at Mall Road, Lahore's busiest artery, on Monday. The blast claimed killed 13 people and injured 87.
"All political parties signed the National Action Plan (NAP). We should implement it everywhere," Khan said.
He added that if NAP was actually being implemented, terror-related incidents would have stopped altogether across the country.
"Enemies have been trying to isolate Pakistan. I can only suspect the attack in Lahore yesterday was conducted to scare foreign cricketers," said the PTI chairman while answering a question regarding the Pakistan Super League's planned final.
"The home team will not be scared but the foreigners probably would be," Khan added.
The PTI chief said that when the Sri Lanka cricket team was attacked in Lahore in 2009, a global perception developed that Pakistan is an unsafe country.
"If it were up to me, I'd have the entire PSL take place in Pakistan," the former cricket champion added.
The PSL final is scheduled to be played in Lahore on March 5.

Why IK did not demanded to handover KP to ranjers? In last couple of months many high ranking police officals got killed in Peshawar by target killers.
IK can only demand Punjab to invite ranjers but who is stopping him to actually handover KP to ranjers?
Again same old dirtly politics of dead bodies.

Agreed with IK Rangers operation in Punjab, if it is done in Sindh why not there. all bad things happen in Lahore comparison to Karachi, Start from operation in Punjab is sooner is better. IG should be changed immediately he should take responsibilitie.

Ranger operation done in Karachi to spilt the MQM in to many groups & to weaken the mandate ofr MQM. Is it fare in Democracy?
Its a big conspiracy against Karachi residents that Federal Govt is not providing any funds for development of Karachi.People can write & write so much unfairness is being done by Fed Govt except in Musharraf regime

@Harmony-1© Ranjers can not just go and do operation wothout provicial govt request. IK should asks army to do operation in Peshawar especially after Banu Jail break and APS attack.
If IK thinks Ranjers is the solution then KP is the place to start with. I simply see no reason what Ranjers will do in Punab especially it is much peacful than all other provinces.

@athar: yes correctly said split in MQM, quota system, Kachara and Garbage in Karachi, no water, education, but high handed collection of taxes and duties from Karachi 80%. and nothing spent on its, Looting Federal and Provincial level Karachi have neither in Fed or Prov Govts shares, all Karachi jobs goes to interior Sindh and rest of Pakistan, Karachi suffering huge unemplyment, and now even Governer is from Rawalpindi no more Karachi Governor. days gone.

Strange remarks from u guys, keep up with facts. KPK police took charge from Pak Army and still there is a heavy presence of army and other security forces in KPK. And they are welcomed if need be cuz IK has no political motives but only to provide security to the people. Now KPK police leading it from the front. And you talk about IK not asking rangers to come? Punjab Govt dont want rangers to come cus of their political motives and votes. As compared to punjab KPK was Red Zone which is getting better and better cuz of good on merit policing. IK has no ill motives to provide safegaurd to terrorist to produce votes but punjab govt has for sure.

@@view very long lecture but answer me one thing. Why IK is not issuing a notification to officially handover KP to ranjgers? Just last month many high official police official got killed in KP. If IK thinks that 10 or 12 dead is a reason to bring ranjers then Peshawar lost 300+ children, jail break and many many more incidents but still no notification. Punjab police is doing good job but terrorism is still present all over country and will take many more years to control it completely.

Like corruption terrorism is in every nook and corner of Pakistan. Punjab is seriously affected .Imran's approach is pragmatic and does make sense. Terrorism is the offshoot of corruption and incompetence of those who have been entrusted with the heavy responsibilities of running the country. The entire nation is suffering .

Actually if IK comes to power, I would expect him to clean up Punjab, especially Raiwind area, followed by Larkarana, to get rid of the maniacal cabal that has been causing havoc on Pakistan for too long.
Heck, I was younger, I would've joined the Rangers in these operations myself.

The question is not whether the Rangers should be patrolling Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa or Balochistan, the question is what are our politicians doing to shape the local psyche into a modern progressive population that is fit to take up the challenges of the 21st century? Force imposed solutions will never stick for very long. The political leadership comes from the masses and they need to reshape local minds.

One PTI elected member from Punjab should send a request to Rangers to address the security situation and conduct an operation. I am sure they will be obligated to respond to such a request. Later if PML block such an operation then onus is on the Govt to give justification - clearly the elected civil Govt is unable to keep its citizen safe.

When I started reading the article, I was happy that finally IK has said something intelligent by asking the question about why Rangers operation could not be conducted in Lahore. But then later in the article, I also read his statement: "If it were up to me, I'd have the entire PSL take place in Pakistan," How stupid does he think people are? he himself was the one who had said just a few years ago that foreign teams should not visit Pakistan because it was not safe for them.
