Today, most of the things we take for granted have not always been there. Someone had to discover or invent them, and then others kept working on them to refine it into the forms that we now know.

Many people today are interested and curious about inventions, but they are of the advance kind, like things that would make it possible for man to travel and live on Mars. But much before even landing on the moon, man had to find a way to make and fly an air craft and hot air balloons, and when these were done for the first time, trust me, it made big news and caused much excitement.

It is so much easier to know how things work today if we try and learn about discoveries that changed world and made life easier for people. And a good book that offers this information is Science and Inventions, Changed the World, by Dreamland Publications.

There is much more to this large, glossy hardbound book. There are basically four sections all related to different aspects of science — Inventions, Discoveries, Global Warming and How Does it Work. Loaded with amazing photographs and illustrations, which make up more of the content than the text. The book can be read, understood and enjoyed by even early readers.

Among the more than 380 topics in the book, I enjoyed most those related to How Does it Work, but it was the section of Global Warming that got the most attention as it brought to focus the dire state of our planet today and the danger we face — all because of what we are doing every day. But the good part is that we are also told how to help end global warming and take steps to reduce energy use.

Science And Invention, Changed The World is a book that would be a treasure for a household with kids, where adults and children together can enjoy the wealth of information it holds.
