Usama Mir, an emerging spinner from Karachi Kings, believes that this year's Pakistan Super League (PSL) could be a major turning point for his career.

Speaking to DawnNews Wednesday night after yet another spectacular performance in the Kings' playoff against Islamabad United, Mir ─ enthusiastic about making ripples at an international level ─ termed the PSL "the best platform for youngsters who aspire to play cricket on an international level."

“Our captain told us to give 100 per cent without worrying about the result", he said adding that he aims to bring his best performance for future matches.

The 21-year-old spinner described PSL as a "shortcut" for upcoming crickets to earn a spot in the national team.

On Wednesday, the Kings defeated Islamabad United by 45 runs as wickets dropped for the reds in quick succession.

Usama Mir bagged the key wickets of Shadab Khan, Asif Ali and Muhammad Sami as the Kings defended a modest target of 127 runs. Imad Wasim and Muhammad Amir also took three wickets apiece.

Mir also garnered attention in a match against Peshawar Zalmi in which he captured Shahid Afridi’s wicket, turning the whole match around in favour of his team.

Afridi, after securing a half century, was on his way to take Zalmi towards victory before his heroics were halted by Mir.

Usama Mir noted that he’s looking forward to going head to head with Peshawar Zalmi once again.
