PESHAWAR: Wapda overcame Pakistan Army 3-0 to win the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Under-23 Volleyball Championship at the indoor hall of PSB Coaching Center here on Friday.

In a tough encounter, Wapda won 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.

It was a close first set, the teams were tied at 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9, 10-10, 12-12, 13-13, 15-15, 16-16, 17-17, 18-18, 19-19, 20-20, 21-21, 22-22 and 23-23 before Wapda took the set and dominated proceedings from there on to win the final.

Wapda’s smashers Mohammad Waseem, Mohammad Mudasir and Mohammad Zubair played well against Army, who had won a thriller against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a five-set semi-final on Thursday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took third place, defeating Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) Wah Cantt 3-0.

Haroon and Bilal did well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the match 25-21, 25-23, 25-19.
