CHITRAL: Several PPP councillors from Yarkhoon valley on Friday announced to join Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf.
They made the decision at a press conference where local PTI leaders were also present. The new entrants expressed their determination to make the valley a stronghold of the party.
Those joined the PTI included among others, councilors of Brep village council Purdum Baig, Sher Mohammad, Mehnaz Bibi and Hedayat Khan.
They said they were impressed by the fact that PTI leadership had brought about a visible change in the sectors of education and health in the remote valley.
They said political parties, including the PPP, took no steps for people’s welfare. The councillors also expressed confidence over the newly-elected PTI district president Abdul Latif.
PTI leaders Yaqub Khan and Mohammad Qasim presented chadars (shawls) to the new entrants.
SRSP PROJECTS: Leaders of Muttahida Awami Committee Drosh have appreciated the role of Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) in implementing the projects under the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund at the union council level, and dismissed the allegations of certain elements against the programme.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Irshad Mukarrar, Sadbar Laal and Noor Ajab Khan said during the past three years, no development scheme had been started in the area, while the projects in the education and health sectors were the only uplift works launched in Drosh.
