ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary committee on judges’ appointment approved on Friday a recommendation of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) for the elevation of Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah as a judge of the Supreme Court.
The approval was given at a meeting of the committee held at the Parliament House. The meeting, presided over by MNA Muhammad Arshad Khan Leghari, was attended by Senator Raja M. Zafarul Haq, Senator Farooq H. Naek, Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi, MNA Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk and the secretary of the Senate.
The committee confirmed the nominations of Justice Shah as a judge of the Supreme Court and Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh, Senior Puisne Judge, for appointment as the Chief Justice of the SHC against the anticipated vacancy.
