DERA GHAZI KHAN: Though the local Anti-Corruption Establishment office had sought permission from its director general for judicial action against Rajanpur’s ex-district coordination officer, executive district officer (education), executive engineer (irrigation) and a sub-divisional officer in two cases, the inquiry has been transferred to Multan ECA, sources told Dawn.

The sources said that DG Khan office of ACE held inquiries into alleged embezzlement of funds in installation of a temporary steel bridge over River Indus at Kot Mithan in Rajanpur district and procurement of furniture by the education department Rajanpur .

They said ECA Deputy Director (legal) Chaudhry Dildar conducted an inquiry into the matter of embezzlement of funds meant for installation of a steel bridge at Nishtar Ghat over River Indus, detecting alleged embezzlement of Rs33 million. In the light of the probe findings, DG Khan ACE registered A case (8/16) against SDO Mubashar Bajwa and irrigation EXEN Zahid Iqbal and sought permission for judicial action against the suspects from ACE director general.

Mr Dildar also conducted an inquiry into alleged embezzlement of Rs50m in purchase of furniture worth Rs80m by Rajanpur education department.

Former DCO Ghazi Aman Ullah and EDO (education) Abdul Ghafar Langah were suspects. The inquiry was finalised but the DCO got transferred from Rajanpur.

Mr Dildar told Dawn that the ACE had sought permission for registration of case and judicial action against the suspects.

However, he said the inquiry was transferred to Multan ACE.
