I don't know why i find this day a Discrimination to Women. Because as a Muslim we try to take care of our women all over the year. Why just 1 day?

@Arshad hussain khan To mark one day to celebrate or remember the cause does not bar you for working or taking care of the same during all the year. It is a way to highlight the things by dedicating one day in name of that cause. Now this woman day news made me to think about the women so is the purpose to mark such events. Like we remain happy all the year but we celebrate two Eids. We pray all the year but we mark special ten days at then end Of Ramadan. We mark Ramadan as fasting month while we can fast any month and so on the national days. So there is no harm to celebrate such special days. I gave examples from religion as you mentioned about Islam and it is my own point of view. Lets make a resolve to change one wrong things in society about women or at least discuss it

I see so much of celebration and activities in India on woman's day. Ladies have come of age in this country. May they continued to be blessed with this happiness and freedom.

@SURYA KANT AGRAWAL: But, ground realities greatly differ. First Indians must start accepting their own God gifted new born girls instead of eliminating them during or after birth by what is called femicide and infanticide, in which India is on top of the world.

@Nomi Goraya Sir short answer to your long story. Why it needed to be highlighted. Why not pressurize the "Authorities" to make law and it's order for all. Justice for all. It is a Discrimination to celebrate or "Highlight" a day for a women or Vice Versa.

@M.Saeed Sir you need to learn to look at brighter side that is in abundance in modern India. In last 20 years India has progressed in all walks. However due to its population, the numbers either positive or negative side are always big. Respecting women and giving equal opportunity is reality in India. Nowadays women do every single profession including mechanics, loco pilots etc etc. There is not even single field of work without women in India.

@Arshad hussain khan Well and what is the human way to remind and pressurize the governments to make laws ? What is the human way to tell the world and people around that things are not fine and lot of work is needed to be done? I think this is the basic concept to celebrate such days.

@AHA Sir with all due respect it is not point scoring as we very clearly know that lot is needed to be done. This example that women are working in as professionals is good but it is still too little cause to be happy when most of population is settled in rural areas. In Punjab India gender based abortion are at alarming rate rather in the same paper I read news of discovery of female fetus in large numbers somewhere in India and case was highlighted when a woman lost her life during gender based abortion, honor killing in Punjab Pakistan , rapes in Delhi and list is long. A lot is needed to be done as we need to change the mindset and stereotype in the society which is strongly male biased

@M.Saeed
Be positive and not keep bringing in negativity. This shows your mindset - it is either you are jealous or do not want the few of the women world over enjoying the joys of freedom. So allow and ensure that more and more women get freedom and enjoy their lives.

@Arshad hussain khan Women need not be taken care of. Just make an environment to allow them to be independent in the society.

@M.Saeed Google some stats before commenting. World Bank sex-ratio at birth estimates show that India is 7th behind China & South Korea. Female infanticide used to occur because poor people produced more babies and wanted boys since they considered the boy will earn and support them later. Same case continues with China till date. But in India this has rapidly declined as girls have started working and supporting their parents as well.

@Arshad hussain khan Who are you to take care of any women ? Who gave you this right/ responsibility ? Did any women ask you to take care of her ? This mentality is what is patriarchal. You need to understand that any women is as smart and independent as you are and she can take care of herself very well. She needs to be respected and encouraged and not protected and cared for.

@M.Saeed ..You are right,some fools on this side practise female foeticide and some fools on the other side let them grow to get them subjected to honour killings later.
Respect for women needs to be made a social and religious mandate so that kids imbibe it from their childhood itself.

@Arshad hussain khan
Do you really take care of your women, Arshad? Please look around you and see how the Muslim world treats women at large and young women in particular. Please take care of our mothers, sisters and daughters as human beings first and please don't patronise but let them be teated equally as we treat our fathers, brothers and sons.

@M.Saeed ....You are absolutely correct...Infanticide is big problem in especially 2 states of India Punjab and Haryan, formerly both were part of Punjab. But Surya Kant is also correct. There is far more freedom in India for woman. India is a large country and mostly things are going in the right direction for "Our Women".

To all the readers who posted criticism and concerns for state of affairs.What did you do personally to enhance the cause, other than write a comment or two? Talk is cheap.
At least honour those who are doing something and admire their accomplishments. Look at the progress made and then go out and contribute personally if you feel enough is not done.
