RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Wednesday.

They discussed matters of regional security and defe­n­ce cooperation, said a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The emir thanked the COAS for visiting Qatar with an aim of strengthening ties between the two countries and the armed forces.

The emir said Pakistan and Qatar shared strong strategic relations and acknowledged Islamabad’s role in development and strengthening of Qatar and its armed forces.

He expressed his desire for enhanced defence and security cooperation between the two countries and its armed forces.

The emir acknowledged Pakistan’s positive role towards regional peace and stability and commended successes of the Pakistan Army in its campaign against terrorism and militancy.

Gen Bajwa thanked the emir for his hospitality and said that Pakistan Army looked forward to enhancing defence and security cooperation with Qatar.
