VEHARI: Two family members were killed and three others injured in a road accident on Friday on Vehari-Luddan road, 30km from here.

Five family members were en route to Kacha Khoo from Hasilpur in a car. When they reached near Awami Bhatta stop, their vehicle collided with a tractor trolley loaded with sugarcane. Resultantly, two passengers identified as Shahzad and Aslam died on the spot. Three others were injured and admitted to the Vehari DHQ Hospital. They were identified as Ehsanullah, Munawar and Naeem.

The car was completely smashed. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured to DHQ.

Luddan police said the accident occurred due to over-speeding of the car. The tractor driver managed to escape.

The victim family belonged to Kacha Khoo town of Khanewal district. Police registered a case against the trolley driver and started an investigation. The bodies were handed over to their relatives after autopsy.
