DERA GHAZI KHAN: Scores of tribal people led by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf local leaders on Saturday staged a sit-in on Dera-Quetta Road to protest against closure of power supply for the last 10 days.

The power disconnection, say residents, has deprived them of drinking water. They have been protesting for the last few days.

The protesters criticised the authorities when Mepco EXEN Furqan and other employees visited them for negotiation and making them open the road. They also held up the officials and let them go on the intervention of political assistant to tribal area Babar Bashir.

The executive engineer told the media that the cause of closure of power supply to tribal area was power theft and non-payment of bills.

He said power supply would be restored to the tribal area only if the higher authorities direct them so.
