President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday evening conferred national awards to Pakistanis and foreigners who have made exceptional contributions to the country.

The leaders of all three armed forces were in attendance at the investiture ceremony, hosted at President House in Islamabad as part of national celebrations on Pakistan Day.

One officer and one solider were conferred the Tamgha-i-Jurrat (Medal of Courage) in the ceremony.

Nine soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty were awarded the Sitara-i-Basalat (Star of Good Conduct).

Additionally, 69 Tamgha-i-Basalat, 21 Imtiazi Asnad, 23 Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), 112 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 138 Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) were conferred on officers and personnel of the Pakistan Army, Navy and the Air Force in different ceremonies across the country.

Other honours conferred at the ceremony included the Hilal-i-Shujaat, Sitara-i-Pakistan, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Tamgha-i-Pakistan, Tamgha-i-Shujaat, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, Tamgha-i-Khidmat and the Pride of Performance award.

Elsewhere, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Eng Iqbal Zafar Jhagra conferred eight civil awards at a ceremony held at Governor House, Peshawar. Jhagra conferred one Sitara-I-Imtiaz, four Pride of Performance awards and three Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in recognition of the achievements of Pakistanis residing in the province.

Simultaneously, officials of the Punjab government conferred presidential awards to 23 civilians, including five Sitara-i-Imtiaz awards and 18 Pride of Performance awards.

Three Sitara-i-Imtiaz awards, five Pride of Performance awards and one Tamgha-i-Imtiaz were awarded in Sindh, and five Pride of Performance awards were conferred in Balochistan.
