Awards conferred on officers, fallen army men

PESHAWAR: Corps Commander Peshawar Lt-Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt conferred awards here on Monday upon officers and relatives of fallen personnel, Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement.

Nine Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 33 Tamgha-i-Basalat were conferred on officers and relatives of men who laid down their lives. Speaking on the occasion Lt-Gen Butt said that significance of the day was to recall those who sacrificed their lives and those who were rendering meritorious services for the protection of motherland.

He said services of the Frontier Constabulary, Frontier Corps, police and army were the beacon light for the coming generations and would be written in golden words in the history.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of serving and retired army and civil officers and their families. Floral wreaths were also laid at the Yadgar-i-Shuhada and prayed held for the dear departed.
