LAHORE: Fast bowler Mohammad Irfan has failed to submit his reply to defend himself against charges of spot-fixing and is seeking one more day for submitting his reply to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Irfan was supposed to submit his reply to the PCB’s Anti-corruption Unit after 14 days but at the end of deadline, he appeared at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday afternoon to ask for permission of one more day for submission of his reply.

It is learnt that Irfan’s reply has got some lacuna which he is keen to get corrected. He was, therefore, granted time until Wednesday to submit his reply.

The giant paceman is facing the charge on not reporting approach from the bookies during the PSL in Dubai to the PCB for which he could face six months to a life ban.

Besides Irfan, four other cricketers in Sharjeel Khan, Khalif Latif, Shahzaib Hasan and Nasir Jamshed are also named in the same fixing scandal with Nasir facing the chargesof playing the role of a facilitator between the players and a bookie named Mohammad Yousuf who is a London-based Pakistani.

Meanwhile, Nasir will be grilled by the PCB’s Anti-corruption Unit in London next week since the discarded batsman is unable to travel to Pakistan because the British authorities have already seized his passport in the PSL scam case.
