CHARSADDA: The security forces and police in a joint action seized a big quantity of explosives and weapons from a house in the jurisdiction of Battagram police station here on Thursday.
Distrcit police officer Sohail Khalid told this correspondent that the action was taken on the information provided by a detained suspect, Mansaf Khan. He said that the seizure included eight kilogrammes of explosive material, two suicide jackets, a hand grenade, 73 detonators and 33 receivers.
He said that raids were being conducted in Batgram and Shabqadar to arrest other members of the network.
HEALTH SERVICES: A meeting here reviewed ‘agreed action plans’ developed by the user communities and the management of basic health units (BHUs) for improvement of primary healthcare services in Charsadda district.
The meeting was organised by District Advocacy Forum (DAF) for Health under Community Score Card Project. The project is being implemented by the Community Uplift Programme (CUP), Pakistan.
Assistant commissioner Noor Wali Khan was chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated the citizens’ feedback through monitoring and joint action planning by the use of ‘community score card’ which empowered citizens to provide immediate feedback to service providers.
He hoped that response would be improved to issues highlighted in the ‘agreed action plans’ regarding lack of basic health facilities in BHUs in Charsadda such as shortage and unavailability of essential medicines and absence of quality anti-natal/post natal services, etc. It was said that supply of medicines and equipment would be ensured through the integrated health project funding and efficient use of existing resources.
