NUST students win first place in Stanford Longevity Design Challenge

Students from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) won first place in the Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge 2017 held in California, TechJuice reported.
The team from NUST, comprising of Hooriya Anam, Awais Shafique, and Arsalan Javed, defeated teams from across the world with their anti-tremor prototype project TAME.
TAME is a project which seeks to develop wearable technology for the suppression of real-time pathological tremors without hindering the voluntary movement of the patient.
This year the competition's theme was focused on design projects and products which were developed to optimise the lives of human beings.
The team from Pakistan competed against groups from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cornell University, Virginia Tech, University of Sao Paolo, Beijing University and Stanford University itself to bag the competition which offers a cash prize and free entrepreneurial-related guidance to the winners.

Congrats NUST and congrats the young innovators...this is the face of Pakistan which the world has missed to see...and I don't blame it on Pakistan, I blame it on international media and the wrong perception they concoct, and the people with wring perceptions.
Also NUST need to replicate its success story and high standards with campuses in other cities...second tier cities also. And the best thing is that NUST is a public university supported by government funds and not a private sector university for just super rich.

The Control you DESERVE
Team TAME from SEECS- NUST
Hooriya Anam, Syed Shazeb Haider, Hamza Khalid, Awais Shafiq, Arslan Javed, Syed Ali Abbas Shah
An advanced technology, aimed at tremor patients, helping them feel normal. This technology developed by students at SEECS, seeks to normalize the movements caused by the noise in brain signals. TAME uses a novel technique, known as Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) in its core module of the device, by applying high voltage/ low currents to the nerves which control the hands. Acting as brain signals, these currents from the FES device force the hand to move in opposite direction of the essential tremor (ET), thus stabilizing the hand and allowing the patient to perform daily routine tasks with ease.
Team is currently refining the project in SEECS NUST lab.
