KARACHI: Fancied Nishtar Club rounded off their league engagements on a winning note when they outplayed hosts Arambagh Club 78-30 in the last match of the league of Pakistan Day basketball tournament at the latter’s floodlit court on Friday.

Nishtar topped the six-team league by staying unbeaten and finished with a tally of 10 points. They now takes on second-finish team Askari Alphas Club in the Sunday’s final at 8pm.

Askari Alphas finished with a tally of eight points winning four of the five games. The only defeat they suffered was at the hands of Nishtar.

The trio of Shabbar 18, Danish 15 and Asad Ali 11, did most of the damage by scoring at repeated intervals for the winners who led 37-10 at half time.

Waqar was the main scorer for Arambagh with 13 and was followed by Abdullah Imam five.

This is one of the worst-ever defeat of Arambagh at the hands of arch rivals Nishtar in the games history. The former had to be content with fifth position in the event with one victory and four defeats.

Upcoming One Unit Club seized third place with six points while Haleem Hot Boys Club settled fourth with four points. Malir Trojans Club, who failed to win any match, finished at the bottom.
