ABBOTTABAD: No session of the district council has been convened for the last seven months, complains Qari Rashid Mehmood, a member of the district council and senior PTI worker. Talking to Dawn on Monday, he said despite repeated requests to the district nazim and the naib nazim to hold the council session, they were unmoved.
Mr Mehmood, who is also the PTI secretary information, Abbottabad chapter, urged party chief Imran Khan to look into the matter as party was badly suffering in the district, from where Qalandar Khan Lodhi was the food minister and Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani was the adviser. He alleged that due to the ongoing tug-of-war between the district nazim and provincial government, no special funds were released to the district. Even the funds allocated in the district council budget in June 2016 remained unutilised, he lamented.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION: The dispute resolution committee of the Abbottabad district, in the first quarter of the current year, received 221 complaints, out of which, it settled 115 cases. In 2016, 276 complaints were received, out of which, 201 were resolved.
This was stated by Sarfraz Khan Jadoon, the DRC secretary, while giving a briefing to District Police Officer Syed Ashfaq Anwar during the latter’s first visit to the committee office on Monday. Mr Jadoon said sub-offices of the committee had also been established in Havelian and Sherwan, for which he asked for nominating members of good repute.
The DPO appreciated the efforts of the DRC members for providing quick and speedy justice to the poor people.
