At least 15 kilogrammes of heroin were recovered from a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight on Tuesday at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, the national flag carrier reported on Tuesday.
"PIA's security department, with the assistance of Anti-Narcotics Force, has recovered approximately 15 kg of heroin from an aircraft which was at the hangar in Karachi undergoing [a] C check," the PIA spokesperson, Daniyal Gilani, said in a statement.
C checks are conducted in a hanger at a maintenance base after a specific amount of actual flight hours, and require that a large majority of the aircraft's components be inspected.
"The matter is being investigated by all agencies concerned," the statement added.
Several attempts have been made to smuggle illegal drugs on PIA flights in the past.
In May 2016, 27kg of heroine was recovered on board a PIA aircraft while routine maintenance was being carried out at a PIA hangar at the Karachi airport.
PIA crew members have also been arrested in the past for attempting to smuggle narcotics on flights bound for international destinations.

PIA has become Smuggler's Air Line and its Crew is fully involved in it because most of its employees are helped by Political Heavy weights .The only way to correct this problem is to weed out all political entries during past fifteen years or so and to ban new recruitment until it becomes reasonable ratio of employees to Aircraft Ratio like other Foreign Airlines.

For the heroine to get to the aircraft, several people have to be involved. Security Gate personnel, Aircraft security guards, Engineering and Maintenance Staff, Cleaning Crew, Transport drivers, etc etc..
It is an organized cabal of criminals working at the Airport. Simple as that. PIA administration has to be knowledgeable of it, especially with series of previous incidents.

PIA never fails to amuse all of us. Nation'a pride and best airline in the world! I always look for PIA news, wonderful and up and away. They go above and beyond any airline. Their crew, ground staff, customer service, staff and management is amazing. I sincerely thank them for making a name in airline. Singapore airline is just over rated, PIA is the BEST!
