NAROWAL, July 28: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi inaugurated the OPD of the Sughra Shafi Medical Complex here on Monday.

It is the project of Sahara For Life Trust, set up by singer Abrarul Haq. The chief minister announced Rs 30 million for the trust.

Addressing participants of the inaugural ceremony, Pervaiz Elahi hailed the services of the local philanthropists for the ailing humanity.

He urged the private sector to come forward and share the government’s efforts in providing better health and medical facilities to the ailing humanity.

Singer Abrar told the audience that the hospital would be fully operational in next four months.

He said the trust would set up a chain of hospitals and schools throughout the country.

The chief minister also inaugurated the construction of Narowal public school and announced Rs10 million grant for it. The chief minister also visited Shakargarh where he attended meetings at the residences of provincial minister for health, Dr Tahir Ali Javed, and Chairman, National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB), Ch Danial Aziz.

Later he addressed a big public gathering at Zafarwal and announced Rs190 million grant for dualizing the Narowal-Lahore road. He also promised gas for Narowal and Shakargarh, special grant for the Narowal Press Club and Narowal Bar Association.

Earlier, the chief minister addressed a gathering of union council nazims, naib nazims and notables of the area at Maddo Kahlon village.

In his Shakargarh visit, the chief minister announced the construction of an embankment to save 12 villages of Shakargarh from flood devastation.

He was addressing a public meeting at the inauguration of the building of Dr Nemat Ali Javed Cadet College and Medical Complex at Tarkhana, 12 kilometres from Shakargarh.

In response to a an audience demand for the installation of a TV tower in Shakargarh, the chief minister promised to approach the federal government.

He announced the construction of a poly technique college in Shakargarh.

Earlier, the Chief Minister announced launching of MA classes in Government Girls and Boys Degree Colleges, proprietary rights for the shopkeepers of Shakargarh city and construction of 15km long road in the area.
