PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Monday launched the school enrolment campaign in Fata, setting a target of achieving 100 per cent results.
The drive was kicked off at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House here, according to a statement.
On the occasion, children were provided free bags and books. Addressing the function, Mr Jhagra said the government was ensuring equal opportunities of education to the people of Fata as education emergency had already been declared in the region.
He directed the officials to play their role in ensuring 100 per cent enrolment in the schools. While lauding efforts of Unicef and UNDP, he said that with the help of donor agencies the desired results would be achieved.
He said children aged between four and nine years would be enrolled in the campaign which will continue till May 31.
The authorities could not achieve the target during the last enrolment campaign, apparently due to a strike by the teachers.
