LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested on Tuesday seven members of banned outfit Jamatul Ahrar in Multan and recovered a heavy quantity of arms and explosive from them.

A spokesman for the CTD said they were alerted about the presence of the suspects at Savera Chowk near Lodhi Colony in Multan, busy planning to attack a sensitive installation. The CTD team also seized explosives and seven detonators from them.

The suspects were identified as Hanifullah, Nasarullah, Mujahidullah, Baghi Khan, Roohullah, Ismail and Shafeeq Khan. They were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation and a case was also registered against them in CTD Multan police station.

Also, the CTD arrested two members of banned outfits in Sialkot and recovered explosive from their possession.

A CTD team in Gujranwala got information that two suspected terrorists belonging to proscribed organisation were present at a house near Goltian Mor on Sailkot Road and were planning to attack sensitive installations somewhere in Sailkot.

He said the CTD team raided the place in the morning and arrested Muhammad Qadeer and Qari Muhammad Mureed Turab. He said both the suspects belonged to Paktika, Afghanistan.

He said they also recovered 1,055 gram explosive, two detonators, and 6.5ft prima cord from them.
