SUKKUR: A candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party and a contestant of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan won by-elections for local government seats in the union councils of Saeedabad and Nawan Goth, respectively, here on Thursday.

According to unofficial results, PPP candidate Paharuddin Brohi bagged 831 votes while his rival Khair Mohammad Mirani secured 671, giving Brohi victory by 160 votes.

MQM candidate Zakir Bandhani obtained 1,075 votes to beat his rival PPP’s Aamir Bandhani who secured 986 votes.

Meanwhile, no election was held for the post of vice chairman of UC Tamachani after the PPP candidate Bashir Mehar won it un­opposed.
