KOHAT: The PTI-JUI-F alliance has got the support of 28 members in the house of 49 through which they can replace the district nazim, but can’t move a no-confidence motion against him, said house convener Abdur Rashid.

Giving details, Mr Rashid, who is district naib nazim from PML-N, told this scribe on Tuesday that though under the agreement he (nazim) would be replaced by a JUI-F member, the house would have to de-seat him first.

He said that the nazim, who was also from JUI-F, did not accept the accord against him.

Mr Rashid said that a simple majority of 25 members was required for replacing the nazim whereas for no-confidence move the required number was 33.

Councillor Dr Matiullah Shah said that the nazim was currently surviving on a stay order.

He said that the matter was also being delayed because in the new scenario the JUI-F forward block wanted its own new nazim instead of from PTI.

He said that JUI-F was divided on the issue whereas PTI was still unanimous and wanted the seat of nazim.

Mr Shah claimed that the PTI-JUI-F agreement and resignation signed by district nazim Maulana Niaz Mohammad was part of the case pending in the high court.

Meanwhile, the efforts of MPA Amjid Afridi to bring his son councillor Babar Azeem of PML-N as the new district nazim had cost him suspension of party membership.

His popularity has also been affected due to his role in hobnobbing for the NA seat for his brother former senator Abbas Afridi.
