CHARSADDA: Leaders of five political parties, trade organisations and civil society members ended their protest sit-in against excessive loadshedding on Wednesday after fruitful talks with the superintendent engineer (SE) sent by Pesco chief for amicable solution to the problem.
The joint action committee, including ANP, QWP, JUI, PTI and JI leaders, district and tehsil nazims, traders and local elders, had started the protest sit-in in front of Pesco offices against loadshedding here on Monday.
The action committee announced to end the protest after a written agreement with the Pesco superintendent engineer on Wednesday. The first round of talks between the action committee and XEN Wapda held at the DC office, Charsadda, had failed to resolve the issue. Later, the DC informed the high authorities of Pesco to find a peaceful solution to the lingering issue.
Giving details about the agreement, district nazim Fahad Riaz said that there would be no unscheduled loadshedding in Charsadda district.
ARMS SEIZED: Police here claimed to have arrested an alleged terrorist and seized a big cache of weapons.
DPO Suhail Khalid told a press conference here that following a tip-off the Charsadda police arrested an alleged terrorist and on information provided by him seized a big cache of arms and explosives from a hideout. The detainee was identified as Syed Badshah.
Meanwhile, district nazim Fahad Riaz assured class-IV employees of education department of resolving their problems on priority basis. He was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Class-IV Association here. The office-bearers included association’s district chairman Amir Akbar, president Ziad Khan, secretary Fayyaz Khan and others.
