PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrated the Supreme Court verdict in the Panama Papers case on Thursday and termed it a victory for the federal government and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The party activists held a gathering in Peshawar at the residence of provincial president Amir Muqam where sweets were also distributed.

Speaking on the occasion, PML-N MNA Dr Ibadullah, provincial secretary information Nasir Khan Musazai, Peshawar district general secretary Sifatullah and vice-president Ikhtiar Wali said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and other opposition parties should admit their defeat in the case.

They claimed that PML-N would also emerge as the largest party in 2018 general election to complete its ongoing development programmes.

In Buner, jubilant workers of PML-N thronged Chanar House to celebrate the verdict in Panama Papers case. Party district president Sirzamin Khan, general secretary Shah Bakht Rawan and councillors addressed the gathering.

They said that some opposition parties wanted to derail democracy in the garb of Panama case. They claimed that the Supreme Court verdict had proved that the PML-N chief was innocent.

In Kohat, mixed reaction was witnessed by leaders of different political parties to the verdict in Panama Papers case.

However, jubilant PML-N workers celebrated the Supreme Court verdict as victory of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Scores of party workers distributed sweets among people in the bazaar who termed the SC decision a success of democracy. PML-N youth wing president Asghar Ayub and district president Sher Khan Bangash also led a rally through the main bazaar in this regard.

In Khar, PML-N workers welcomed the court ruling and termed the verdict a ‘historic victory for the PML-N’. Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, PML-N lawmaker Shahabuddin Khan, chief coordinator of Fata youth wing Nizamuddin Khan and local chapter president Rahat Yousaf said that the Supreme Court decision was in the best interest of Pakistan, its people and democracy.

Mr Shahabuddin said that formation of a joint investigation team by the Supreme Court the victory of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s stance in this regard.

In Charsadda, PML-N workers came on roads and distributed sweets at the city’s main bazaar to celebrate what they called party’s victory in the Panama Papers case.

A function was also held at the party’s district secretariat with district president Humayun Shah in the chair.
