LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah says the Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) findings will be “just an investigation report” and the PTI will cry after comprehending the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Panama case.

“The PTI is gloating over the apex court’s verdict in the Panama case believing that the JIT findings can create problems for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Let me tell Imran Khan that the JIT report will be nothing more than an investigation report. It will not be a verdict or reference against anyone. The JIT may not be able to complete probe in 60 days. Once the PTI fully understands the Panama judgement, it will stop fooling itself and its workers,” Sanaullah said.

Speaking to Dawn here on Thursday, the law minister advised the PTI to “wait for the 2018 elections instead of making another anti-Nawaz plan.”

He said there was no plan for Maryam Nawaz to contest on a National Assembly seat in a Lahore by-poll. “At present, Maryam Bibi is assisting her father in politics and whenever Mian Sahib decides to send her to the National Assembly she will contest the election. There is no such plan right now and she may contest the 2018 election,” he said. He said her (Maryam’s) name was not in the Panama verdict.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Begum Mehnaz Rafi has questioned as why Maryam Nawaz’s name was not in the Panama verdict despite revelation that she was trustee of the family flats in London.

“I wonder how this JIT will be able to carry out a thorough probe against the premier and his children. It appears that the JIT has been made to hush up the matter,” Ms Rafi said.
