KARACHI: Iftikhar Syed Hockey Club takes on A. O Hockey Club in the opening match of the Late Olympian Munawwar-uz-Zaman Veteran’s Hockey League which begins at the former’s floodlit ground on Monday at 9pm.

The tournament is being held under the aegis of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA).

According to draws, 15 local outfits have entered the event and had been drawn into four groups. The teams securing top two berths in their groups on completion of league matches will advance into the knockout quarter-finals.

With the exception of opening day, two matches will be played daily. The semi-finals are slated for May 17 and 18 while curtain falls on the event on May 20

Mrs. Tehsin Zaman, wife of one of the greatest stalwarts of the game Munawwar-uz-Zaman, will grace the opening ceremony.

Raziq H. Rabbani has been appointed as tournament director.
