KARACHI: Most parts of Sindh continued to receive an early summer battering with Nawabshah and Mithi becoming the hottest places on Monday when the mercury climbed up on the scale to touch the 44.5 degrees Celsius mark, said the weatherman.

Responding to Dawn’s queries, an official of the meteorological department said sea breeze pulled down the mercury from Sunday’s 41.5 degrees Celsius to 37.2 degrees Celsius, bringing some relief to the Karachiites who had been experiencing a scorching continental heatwave for the past few days.

However, he said, the weather remained hot and dry in other parts of Sindh on Monday. Some of the towns where temperature remained very high were: Nawabshah and Mithi (44.5 degrees Celsius), Chhor (43.8°C); Larkana and Sukkur (43.5°C); Dadu (43.1°C); Padidan (42.5°C); Badin and Rohri (42°C); Jacobabad (41.5°C); Hyderabad (41°C) and Thatta (40.5°C).

The Met official said that hot or very hot and dry weather has been forecast for Tuesday with isolated dust storm and gusty winds at some places in the province.

On Monday, he said, the maximum temperature recorded in Karachi was 37.2°C and minimum temperature recorded was 26 degrees Celsius. Humidity was 48 per cent, he added.
